An interesting African Ashanti / Asante Bronze Gold Weight in the form of a Face Mask or head.

This Bronze Gold Weight is nicely cast in the form of a human head and has a good patina.

The weights were once used by the people of Ghana when trading gold with merchants along the Ivory coast. Each one is individually made and unique as the mould is damaged in the process of making the item.
