This wonderful French artist's paint box which is made of mahogany with brass fittings dates from the late 19th century and is complete with a full tray of Bourgeois oil paints, quill type brushes, lavender essence, a paper weight, pallet, travel brush pot, pallet knives and other interesting items.

The box which has a wonderful patina has a brass carry handle, two brass clips, is fitted with a brass lock and is a fine and rare example of a 19th century paint box which has remained untouched for many years.

Most of the tubes of oil paint have hardened and have the original Bourgeois labels. Some have Lefranc labels. Colours include emerald green, black, yellow and there is a glass jar of Bourgeois lavender essence which looks unopened.

Weight: 1.7 Kg.

Condition: Original used antique condition with wear, scratches and patina. There is a thin split in the lid. Some paints have hardened. No key for lock. Please see pictures.
