This beautiful Japanese Bronze handled Letter Opener which dates from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912) has a silver plated blade and is wonderfully decorated with a bird amongst foliage.
The blade is stamped PRIMUS IE&SS EP. Isaac Ellis & Sons of Sheffield who made silver plated blades in the late 1800's.
Date: Meiji period (1868 - 1912)
Size: 19.3 cm - 7 1/2"
Condition: Very good antique condition. Signs of use in keeping with age. some minor scratches and wear. No dents or breaks.
