This unusual silver trophy which dates from the early 20th century is in the form of a bowling ball and is made by Glasgow silversmith George & John Morgan.
It has an interesting inscription that reads:
Largs Bowling Club. Presented to Mrs A.G.Inglis. On Opening The Green 3.5.47.
This very nice trophy comes complete with it's three legged brass crossover stand.
This bowling trophy would make a unique collectors piece for a sports collector, bowling fan or silver collector.
Date: 1946 / 1947.
Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked with Lion for sterling silver. Glasgow, date letter X for 1946 and with the maker's mark G&J for George & John Morgan.
Size: Diameter of ball - 7 cm (2 3/4") approx. Height including stand - 16 cm (6 1/2") approx.
Weight of silver ball: 286 g. (Most likely weighted).
Total weight of silver ball and stand: 348g.
Condition: Excellent condition with some signs of use in keeping with age. Some light marks, scratches and tarnishing. A few shallow bruises. Brass stand in very good condition.
