This pair of interesting and unique trench art wine coolers have been made from very heavy antique brass ammunition shells that date from during World War 1. They have a been skilfully transformed in the trenches to add a hand hammered art nouveau decoration with handsome lion figures to their outsides. They both have the dates 1914 - 1918 in the decoration and have fitted stylish bronze lion masks to complete their look.
The standing lion and dates would match these to the 8th Infantry Division of the British army.
The large size make them ideal for holding 5 full size bottles of wine or 3 Champagne bottles in each.
These Trench art wine coolers are unusual as they come as a pair, are wonderful unique pieces of trench art that are a great talking piece and are usable barware items that look wonderful on display.
