This set of 6 cased Art Nouveau sterling silver buttons are styled as a cherub with foliage decoration. Each of the buttons is stamped with the lion passant to denote sterling silver, date letter 'u' for 1919, and an anchor of the Birmingham assay office marks. There is also a makers mark for Nathan & Hayes. Housed in the antique fitted original case.

Interesting note: These buttons are exactly the same style and make as the ones worn by Alice Liddell - Alice Liddell was the person on who Lewis Carroll based his character Alice, in Alice in Wonderland. The actual buttons worn by her sold at Sotherby for £2500 in 2001.
