This unusual solid silver cricket trophy which dates from 1928 is in the form of a cricket ball with an engraved seam and quarters, is made by Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd of Sheffield and is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1928.

It has an interesting inscription that reads:

Presented to Frank Unwin, Esq in recognition of his fine performance with the cricket ball. From members of the Hathersage Bowling Club 1928.

This very nice trophy ball which stands on a wooden base would make a unique collector's piece for a sports collector, cricket enthusiast or silver collector and looks wonderful on display.

Material: Silver ball. Wood base.

Hallmark: Fully hallmarked with Lion for Sterling Silver. Sheffield. Date letter l for 1928. Maker's mark for Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd. London.

Diameter: 7 cm (2 3/4") approx.

Weight: Silver ball which is hollow 132 g. Total with stand 286 g.

Condition: Good antique / vintage condition with some signs of use in keeping with age. Some light marks, light surface scratches and tarnishing. A few bruises to the underside of the ball. Please see pictures.
