This handsome antique hip flask which has a fully hallmarked sterling silver body was made in 1914 by Atkins Brothers, has a detachable hallmarked silver cup and hinged flip / bayonet top.

This beautiful flask is nicely engraved to the front with the RAF logo and C.S.S RAF Baghdad so would most likely have belonged to an RAF airman.

The Royal Air Force (RAF) was formed in 1918 (towards the end of the war) with the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service.

A tactile and high quality flask that would make a wonderful antique gift and an interesting collector's piece.

Material: Solid Silver.

Date: 1914.

Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked with Lion for sterling silver, Leopard's head for London. Maker's mark HA for Atkin Brothers. Date letter t for 1914. Hallmarked to the cup, flask body and collar.

Also marked to underside of cup: 6 1/4 oz.

Dimensions: Width: 8 cm (3 1/4"). Depth: 2.5 cm (1"). Height: 13.5 cm (5 1/4").

Weight: 200 grams.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Some very light surface scratches and tarnish. A couple of tiny bruises. The lid closes nice and tightly with no leaks. No splits, holes or breaks. The cup slides on and off of the flask well and stays firmly in place. A very clean and tidy flask. Please see pictures.
