This lovely 'Swimming' trophy cup which is made of Solid Silver is fully hallmarked for Calcutta, India and is by Hamilton & Co. who is probably the best known and celebrated British silversmith operating in India (known as the Garrard of India).

The two handled silver cup has an interesting inscription that reads "Calcutta Swimming Club - Ravensbourne Challenge Cup - 1952 - Won by Miss L Godwin".

The trophy sits on it's original ebony base which has the Hamilton & Co. Ltd Silversmiths. Calcutta New Delhi central disc.

This interesting cup would make a wonderful collector's piece for a swimming fan.

Material: Solid Silver.

Date: The cup dates from c 1930 and would have been engraved in 1952.

allmark: Full Calcutta, India hallmarks with the elephant and Hamilton & Co. Ltd makers mark.

Size: Height (to include the base as shown in picture) - 13 cm (5") approx.

Weight of the silver trophy (not including base): 117 grams approx.

Condition: Excellent vintage / antique condition with only very light signs of use in keeping with age. Please see pictures.
