This fascinating 18th century Waniguchi Temple Bell or Japanese shrine bell is made of solid bronze and these are usually found hanging in front of the entrance to Shinto shrines.

These round bronze gongs are also referred to as Wishing Bells. Waniguchi translates as Crocodile's mouth as these temple bells resemble the wide mouth of a crocodile.

This Japanese Waniguchi Temple Bell has lots of patina so would make a wonderfully decorative feature and comes complete with chains.

Made of heavy bronze.
