This handsome taxidermy of a mounted pair of Thomson's Gazelle horns on an oak shield with the wording Thomson's Gazelle. BEA. 1898. JOM date from the late 19th century and are by Walter Burton.

This antique shield which can be hung on a wall still retains it's original taxidermist label to the reverse which shows that this quality piece was by Walter Burton FZS of Wardour Street, London who was regarded as one of the UK's top taxidermists at that time. He tragically died in 1913 at the age of 58 after accidentally drinking poisonous preserver instead of water.

An interesting piece that would make a great decorative collector's item.

Material: Oak. Gazelle Horns.

Dimensions: Width: 16.5 cm (6 1/2"). Height including horns: 42 cm (16 1/2").

Just the length of the horns: 36 cm (14").

Weight: 698g.

Condition: Excellent used antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Please see pictures.
