This handsome antique wooden hat block which is in the form of a head dates from the 19th century, has a wonderful rich patina and was originally used to make and shape hats or wigs.

This hat block is unusual as it comes with it's wooden base clamp so would have been clamped to a workbench for ease of use.

The head is embossed with D56 and D8.

This head and clamp which is a tactile and heavy piece looks fantastic on display and would make a very nice decorative shop display. Looks wonderful displaying hats and fascinators or could be used to make and shape hats. A wonderful scarce piece.

Dimensions of head: Approx 52.5 cm (20") Circumference at widest point. 23.5 cm (9 1/4") Height.

Weight: 2.2 kg.

Condition: Wonderful decorative antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. The usual pin holes, splits, cracks and lots of age related wear leaving a wonderful patina and look. Old woodworm that has been double treated as a precaution. Please see pictures.
