This interesting and fine monaural stethoscope which is made of a fruitwood dates from the 19th century and has a wonderful patina.

The monaural (for one ear) stethoscope was invented in 1816 for doctors to listen to patients hearts and chests. Nowadays they use two ear piece stethoscopes but monaural stethoscopes are still used to listen to the heartbeat of unborn babies.

A nice early medical antique that would make a very nice addition to a medical equipment collection and would be an ideal museum piece.

Condition. Very good antique condition with some chips and marks. Has a crack to the side. Has a wonderful patina. Please see pictures.
