This unusual antique / vintage ex voto which originates from Italy is made of silver plate / white metal and is in the shape of a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes.

An Ex voto is a votive offering and can take a wide variety of form. They would be placed in a Catholic church by the worshipper to seek grace or give thanks to a saint for help with a problem or ailment. They usually have the form of a certain body part or object.

This ex voto which dates from the first half of the 20th century has a hanging loop to the top and is fitted with a hanging cord.
