This antique inkwell which is in the form of a slouch hat is made of canvas covered metal and dates from the Boer War.

This novelty travelling inkwell is marked to the outer with CIV for the City of London Imperial Volunteers. The top of the hat opens by the push button to the front and reveals an inner lid and then opens again to reveal the removable glass inkwell liner which is original.

This hat is a replica of the hat the regiment wore in the Boer War.

An unusual novelty piece.

Material: Canvas. Metal. Glass.

Dimensions: Height: 4.5 cm (1 3/4"). Width: 7 cm (2 3/4"). Length: 10.5 cm (4").

Weight: 66 g.

Condition: Very good antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some staining and light wear. Clasps work as they should. Please see pictures.
