This original vintage GWR Railway lithograph travel poster for Somerset dates from c1930 and is of a Somerset country scene by Alker Tripp.

The extremely scarce poster has the GWR logo under this scene along with Monthly Return Tickets Issued All The Year Round and is also printed with Somerset by Maxwell Fraser - Price 1/- at GWR Stations.

Printed in Great Britain by The Dangerfield Printing Co Ltd, London and this is shown along the bottom along with No. 172 Paddington Station and James Milne General Manager.

Alker Tripp was an English artist who had many of his paintings shown in the Royal Academy and more than twenty of his works were turned into posters. As well as being an artist he was also an Assistant Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police and was knighted in the 1940's.

This poster would have been used at Paddington Station, London to advertise travelling to Somerset by train.

Condition: Very good original condition with just a little creasing to the bottom area and on the edge. Some light spot marks and staining. Printed area very good. Will be sent rolled. Please see pictures.
