This Georgian tipstaff which is made of brass and wood dates from the early 19th century.

This antique tipstaff has a wooden handle with a brass body which is topped with an open brass crown finial.

This signifies the Crowns Court authority and would have been used to serve a warrant by a court officer, bailiff or police constable. Once the official had touched the person with the tipstaff the warrant would be deemed as served.

A wonderful tactile item that is an interesting talking piece.
