This fabulous antique French carnival shooting gallery target which dates from the late 19th century is made of painted cast iron and is of a jockey riding his horse.

This automated target which has mechanical workings would have been part of a fairground shooting game where carnival goers would shoot at the round target plate and when it was hit the jockey would be thrown off his horse.

A rare and collectible antique carnival piece that is in working order and has a wonderful look and patina.

Material: Iron. Has been mounted on a simple wood base as a support.

Date: Late 19th century.

Dimensions: Width: 36.5 cm (14 1/4"). Depth: 6 cm (2 1/2"). Height (including wooden base): 30 cm (11 3/4").

Weight: 1 kg.

Condition: Very nice decorative antique condition with signs of use and wear with a wonderful look. Some scratches and wear to paint leaving a great patina. In working order. Some later parts. The target has been later mounted on a simple wooden support so sits on a flat surface. Please see pictures.
