This interesting and unique trench art wine cooler which has been made from a heavy brass ammunition shell during World War 1, having been skilfully transformed in the trenches to add a hand hammered art nouveau decoration with handsome lion figures to the outside, the dates 1914 - 1918 in the decoration and have fitted stylish bronze lion masks to complete their look.

The standing lion and dates would match these to the 8th Infantry Division of the British army.

The large size is ideal for holding 5 full size bottles of wine or 3 Champagne bottles.

Height: 23.5 cm (9 1/4") approx.

Diameter of shell: 22.5 cm (9") approx (plus side handles).

Weight: Nearly 6 Kg.

Date: 1918.

Condition: Very good antique condition with some marks, dings and age related patina as would be expected from World War 1 ammunition shell. Please see pictures.
