This handsome Milliner's hat stretcher which dates from c1930 sits on it's wooden base that is fitted with a Reslaw Hats registered design name plate and also with a hat sizer chart.
Reslaw hats were produced in the 1930's and 1940's by Paul Walser & Co who were a top milliner in London.
This fine mechanical hat sizer has a large metal handle which when turned opens and closes the wooden hat section to adjust the size, has a wonderful dark rich patina and is a particularly nice example having both the milliner's name and the sizer chart.
This type of wooden stretcher was originally used to manufacture, size and stretch hats but today they make wonderful display pieces either on their own or for displaying hats.
