This large, heavy and impressive solid silver trophy cup which dates from the early 20th century is in the Art Deco style with a wonderful pattern around the top and two handles.

It has an interesting inscription that reads:

The Chas Smelling Bowling Trophy

Presented to the Employees of

Messrs Olive & Partington Ltd

Glossop and Broughton v

1937.

This wonderful trophy which has an impressive height at 21 cm would make a unique collectors piece for a sports collector, bowling fan or silver collector.

Material: Solid silver.

Date: 1935.

Hallmarks: Birmingham. Date letter L for 1935. Maker's mark GM&S.

Height at highest point: 21 cm (8 1/4") approx.

Width across at handles. 25 cm (9 3/4") approx.

Weight: 417 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Some light marks, scratches, tarnishing and shallow bruises. Please see pictures.
