This antique athletics trophy beaker which is made of bovine horn has a fully hallmarked silver rim that dates from 1881 and a silver cartouche to the front.
The oval front cartouche has an interesting inscription that reads:
St Ives Athletic Sports. Presented by Mrs Morrant. Quarter Mile Race. 1st Prize Won By N.H. Marsh.The silver rim is also nicely marked with the original retailer's details of W. Thornhill & Co. 144 New Bond Street.
A handsome cup that has a clear base would make a very nice collectible piece for an athletics enthusiast.

Condition: Very good antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some tiny chips and nibbles. The base has a crack. Please see pictures.
