This interesting antique pair of French fencing foils / epees which have steel blades, brass and leather guards, brass pommels and bound grips on rectangular wooden handles are marked Souzy Aine Paris to one of the blades.

Fencing was a popular sport in Europe so there were many gentleman's private fencing clubs towards the end of the 19th Century.

It is unusual to find a matching pair in such good condition and these have not been cleaned so are in nice original condition.

A very nice pair of collectable foils that are perfect decorative display items that look wonderful on display in the home and ideal for use in a hotel, bar or man cave.

Date: Late 19th Century - c1890.

Marked: Souzy Aine Paris to one of the blades.

Dimensions: 110 cm (43 1/2") Length.

Weight: 780 grams for the pair.

Condition: Very good antique condition with wear and an overall patina. Blades are straight and true, nicely-tempered and retain lots of their original springiness. Blades have some rust and pitting. They have not been over cleaned and are perfect for display. A nice pair of decorative foils. Please see pictures.
