This highly collectible antique French carnival shooting gallery target which is of a squirrel holding an acorn is made of painted cast iron, has mechanical workings and dates from the late 19th century.

This automated target would have been part of a fairground shooting game where carnival goers would shoot at the squirrel and when the target plate was hit the squirrel springs backward.

A rare and collectible antique carnival piece that is in good working order and has a wonderful patina so looks great too.

Date: Late 19th century.

Dimensions: Width: 17.5 cm (7"). Depth: 4 cm (1 1/2"). Height: 26 cm (10 1/4").

Weight: 1.152 g.

Condition: Very nice decorative antique condition with signs of use and wear with a wonderful look. Some scratches and wear to paint leaving a great patina. In working order. The target has been later mounted on a simple wooden support so sits on a flat surface. Please see pictures.
