This highly collectible antique French carnival shooting gallery target which is of a stork lifting up a baby is made of painted metal, dates from the late 19th century and has mechanical workings.
This fascinating automated target would have been part of a fairground shooting game where carnival goers would shoot at the bird and when the target plate was hit the stork would spring upwards to pull the baby out of the water reeds with it swinging from it's beak.
A rare and collectible antique carnival piece that is in working order and has a wonderful patina so looks great too.
Date: Late 19th century.
Dimensions: Width: 29 cm (11 1/2"). Depth: 4 cm (1 1/2"). Height: 30 cm (11 3/4").
Weight: 1.388 kg.
Condition: Very nice decorative antique condition with signs of use and wear with a wonderful look. Some scratches, wear and crazing to paint leaving a great patina. In working order. The target has been later mounted on a wooden support so sits on a flat surface. Please see pictures.
