This 19th century taxidermy trophy shield which is made of oak has a brass plaque that reads: Debuche De Boisfleury. 17 Fevrier 1883. The top is carved with a ribbon and the phrase La Venerie which is a town just outside of Brussels in Belgium.
The oak shield which can be hung on a wall is mounted with a fallow deer hoof and lower leg. This was an old form of taxidermy on the continent in the 19th and early 20th century.
A rare find being from he 1880's and interesting piece that would make a great decorative collector's item.
