This Victorian coaching horn which is made of copper and brass is by Callow & Son, dates from c1875 and is marked with the maker's details.
This antique instrument is an extra long horn at 116 cm long, has a nicely engraved silver plated mouthpiece that is signed with H Keat & Sons, London N. and Pat Feb 23 1875 and comes complete with it's original high quality brown leather hand stitched case that has 2 leather straps and a leather carrying handle. These horns rarely come with their fitted cases and this one is in nice condition with a wonderful patina.
Coaching horns were used in the late 19th century and early 20th century on the London to Oxford mail coach and on coaches pulled by four horses.
A handsome antique piece that looks wonderful on display or makes a nice usable horn.
