This swimming trophy designed by W Zwick is of a male swimmer about to dive into a river and dates from the early 20th century.
This male swimmer wearing his swimming costume looks impressive on display and has an interesting engraved inscription to the front of the base which reads Traversee de Gand a la nage offert par Mr A Devos president d'honneiur which means Swimming across Ghent. Offered by Mr A Devos, honorary president.
The base of the trophy is signed W Zwick for the artist Wilhelm Zwick and is also marked to the underside with the maker's mark for Kayser.
A very nice decorative trophy that looks wonderful on display with it's unpolished finish.
