This unique and interesting hand carved wooden award trophy plaque has a skilfully carved inscription that reads: The Governor's Shield with a carving of a laced leather football underneath.
The trophy plaque which dates from the early 20th century would have been given as an award in a football competition around 1920.
This unusual wooden plaque would make a great collector's piece for a football fan that would look great on display in a football museum, club, bar etc or just a nice decorative piece of football memorabilia for your man cave.

Marks: Carved to the back Fr Victor.
Materials: Wood.
Size: Height: 37 cm (14 1/2") approx. width: 33 cm (13") approx.
Weight: 1070 grams.
Condition: Good antique condition with some signs of use in keeping with age leaving a nice warm patina. There is a small repair above the 'nor' and some cracking/splits to the wood. Please see pictures.
